The Rewilding Co. All-Purpose Potting Mix

The Rewilding Co. All-Purpose Potting Mix is our all-natural, science-backed, personally-tested, filler-free, ready-to-use substrate blended in small batches from four core ingredients: aged pine bark, perlite, pumice, and coco coir.

Aged pine bark keeps the mix structurally open over time, preventing compaction and giving roots room to grow. Perlite creates permanent air pockets, improves drainage, and stops water from sitting around the roots. Pumice adds aeration and some moisture retention through its porous structure, and does not break down over time. Coco coir retains moisture between waterings and is a natural host for Trichoderma, a beneficial fungus that helps shield roots from soil-borne pathogens. 

The mix also preserves Penicillium, a naturally occurring microbe that supports a healthy root environment. The All-Purpose mix sits in the middle of our range, balancing water retention and oxygen availability in equal measure, enough moisture for most indoor plants without the risk of waterlogging. Contains no added nutrients or pathogens and can be used straight from the bag, though plants will need to go onto a fertilisation programme right from the start. Available in 5L and 40L.

Suits a wide range of home plant setups:

• Aroids and tropicals: Monstera, philodendron, anthurium, and similar plants that need a chunky, well-aerated mix that drains fast but holds enough moisture between waterings
• Hoyas and epiphytes: Plants that prefer an open, breathable root environment with good airflow around the roots
• General indoor repotting: A reliable all-rounder for most houseplants that do not require a highly specialised substrate, from ferns and pothos to peace lilies and rubber plants
