Pasquini & Bini Varia High-Capacity Root-Training Container
The Pasquini & Bini Varia High-Capacity Root-Training Container is a large, wide-mouthed growing container made from recycled polyethylene, designed as the high-volume companion to the Ercole. Rather than air pruning through open slots, the Varia uses inward-facing perforated ribs across the full wall and base to guide roots radially outward and downward, preventing spiralling through the structure of the walls themselves. Oxygen reaches the root zone through the substrate, which is why a well-aerated, open mix such as coco fibre works best in this container. The base sits on angled feet that elevate it for drainage. Thicker walls than standard nursery containers make it stable under heavy loads and resistant to deformation when moved or stacked. Available in five sizes from VA110 (Ø65×H51 cm, 110 L) through to VA375 (Ø102×H65 cm, 375 L), making it a serious option for growers who want to keep large plants in containers long-term without the constraints of planting directly into the ground.
Built for plants that need serious room to grow:
- Large trees and specimen shrubs: The volumes go up to 375 L, large enough to support substantial trees on a terrace or in a garden across multiple growing seasons
- Conifers and tall columnar trees: Commercially used for large conifers and cypresses, where maintaining a healthy, non-circling root system matters for stability as the plant grows tall
- Long-term outdoor container planting: For any plant staying in a container indefinitely, the structural durability and root training design reduce how often the container needs attention or replacement

What Our Customers Say

This is definitely an excellent potting mix!
Once I replaced the mix of my alocasia with this, it started thriving and pushing out new sprouts. It's a chunky and airy mix so watering becomes more frequent but great for plants that hate wet feet and get root rot fast.

This is my third purchase of this potting mix, and it continues to impress. The drainage is excellent, and my plants have been growing healthier than ever.
Ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. High-quality potting mix. Even though I definitely don't have green fingers. A reliable mix that makes plant care so much easier. Highly recommended.

Can't find a better soil mix to start my plant journey with! 2 weeks in and my plants are flourishing!

My alocasia stingray suffered from root rot and was attacked by mealy bugs. Potted an almost dead plant with just 1 yellowing leaf and few roots in this mix.
Today I cut off the last leaf and look, there is a sign of life. This potting mix is great. If I had known about this earlier, I would have fewer dead plants

Exactly 1 month since repot. This is a propagated anthurium and suffice to say, it absolutely loves the soil and the net pot.
I've had this plant since January and this is the first time it's growing 7 new leaves all at once! My only regret is that I wish bought a bigger pot because boy these roots grow fast!
— Gian J.
Excellent. Bought this as a recommendation from a friend and it works.

The soil is a good base and very suitable for adding amendments to suit the needs of your plant. I tried many soilless mixes, I like this one the most, for me it is the most versatile and easiest to use. Wish it came in a smaller 2L pack though. Good price and was delivered fast.

I'd highly recommend this potting mix as my alocasia roots grow very well and healthy in it. I'm also using it for other plant.
