Pasquini & Bini Ercole Air-Pruning Container
Pasquini & Bini Ercole Air-Pruning Container is a rigid black growing pot made from recycled post-consumer polyethylene, injection moulded with vertical slots running the full length of the side walls. When roots reach the slots and are exposed to air, the root tips dry out and stop elongating naturally, triggering lateral branching rather than circling or spiralling. The result is a dense, fibrous root system that fills the pot evenly rather than wrapping at the bottom and sides. The slotted walls also provide continuous airflow and drainage through the growing medium. Available in a wide range of sizes from SP14 (Ø14×H16 cm, 1.3 L) through to SP60 (Ø60×H46 cm, 90 L), covering everything from small seedlings to large specimen plants. A good all-rounder for home growers who want healthier roots:
- Growing trees and large shrubs: If a tree or shrub is going into the ground eventually, starting it in the Ercole makes transplanting noticeably smoother. The root system comes out fibrous and even, not a tangled ball that needs untangling before planting
- Large indoor and tropical plants: For big indoor plants that tend to get root-bound fast, the even root distribution the Ercole encourages means less stress between repots and a more stable plant overall
- Propagation and seedlings: Smaller sizes work well for cuttings and seedlings that will be moved on later. Starting with a good root structure from the beginning saves a lot of corrective work down the line
- Semi-hydro and LECA setups: The slotted walls make it a natural fit for LECA, pumice, or bark-based semi-hydro growing, where roots need airflow and water needs to drain freely without pooling

What Our Customers Say

This is definitely an excellent potting mix!
Once I replaced the mix of my alocasia with this, it started thriving and pushing out new sprouts. It's a chunky and airy mix so watering becomes more frequent but great for plants that hate wet feet and get root rot fast.

This is my third purchase of this potting mix, and it continues to impress. The drainage is excellent, and my plants have been growing healthier than ever.
Ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. High-quality potting mix. Even though I definitely don't have green fingers. A reliable mix that makes plant care so much easier. Highly recommended.

Can't find a better soil mix to start my plant journey with! 2 weeks in and my plants are flourishing!
— H.K.
My alocasia stingray suffered from root rot and was attacked by mealy bugs. Potted an almost dead plant with just 1 yellowing leaf and few roots in this mix.
Today I cut off the last leaf and look, there is a sign of life. This potting mix is great. If I had known about this earlier, I would have fewer dead plants

Exactly 1 month since repot. This is a propagated anthurium and suffice to say, it absolutely loves the soil and the net pot.
I've had this plant since January and this is the first time it's growing 7 new leaves all at once! My only regret is that I wish bought a bigger pot because boy these roots grow fast!

Excellent. Bought this as a recommendation from a friend and it works.

The soil is a good base and very suitable for adding amendments to suit the needs of your plant. I tried many soilless mixes, I like this one the most, for me it is the most versatile and easiest to use. Wish it came in a smaller 2L pack though. Good price and was delivered fast.

I'd highly recommend this potting mix as my alocasia roots grow very well and healthy in it. I'm also using it for other plant.
